I'm Song. Everyone calls me Pitou. I write software in Phnom Penh — the kind that has to still be standing on Monday morning.

By day I'm the only engineer on the government securities systems at Cambodia's Ministry of Economy and Finance. Nobody hands me a ticket queue. When the auction platform breaks, I'm the phone that rings. That job taught me more about writing boring, durable code than any course did.

By night I'm co-founder and CTO of KhmerRooms — a hotel booking platform built for Cambodia first, not a translated afterthought of a foreign one. React Native for guests, Next.js for hotel owners, Laravel underneath, and a long argument with payment rails and channel managers that I intend to win.

I got here via Debrecen, Hungary, on a Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship. Four winters, four languages, one degree. Came home in March and haven't stopped since.

  • Co-founded and lead engineering for KhmerRooms, a Cambodia-first hotel booking platform, owning architecture and delivery across a Laravel 12 API, Next.js web app, and React Native mobile client as the sole technical founder.
  • Deployed and operate the platform on AWS, provisioning EC2 compute, RDS for the primary database, S3 for property media, and CloudFront for CDN delivery, with automated deployments, environment isolation, and monitoring to keep production stable on a lean startup budget.
  • Integrated ABA PayWay as the primary payment gateway, implementing server-side transaction verification, webhook reconciliation, and a hold-and-release payout model aligned with local banking infrastructure.
  • Designed the channel-manager connectivity layer so hotels using STAAH, eZee, or Cloudbeds can sync availability, rates, and inventory through a single certified API surface, with live re-validation at checkout to prevent overselling.
  • Built the hotel-owner dashboard and internal admin tooling for listing management, booking operations, and real-time performance analytics.

  • Developed a responsive React 18 frontend with Vite and Tailwind CSS v4, featuring a comprehensive laboratory test request form covering 130+ tests across 26 categories matching the clinic's official PDF for.
  • Implemented a PDF print system that generates formatted A4 lab request receipts with grouped test categories, patient information, and doctor signature fields.
  • Integrated Telegram Bot API for real-time notifications sent to a group chat whenever a doctor submits a lab request, including full patient and test details.
  • Built an Admin Panel for managing custom test options with searchable dropdowns for sample type and collection container fields, doctor management, and system statistics.
